Gallery One was pleased to invite you to the opening of the solo exhibition by artist Randa Maddah entitled “A Hair Tie” on Saturday the 3rd of September 2016 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Gallery One. The exhibition continued until Thursday the 29th of September 2016.

“On a parallel plane, all of this takes place. The earth is split open and the sky is indifferent, with so many stories in between them. My story is the passing of the memory over a dreadful heritage not perceived yet by the oblivion.”  Randa Maddah

Randa Maddah’s new series of artworks as described by John Berger “is very compelling. I look at it again and again. And I want to try to describe to you how I place it as a spectator in my imagination. I return to Palestine and I look at the earth I’m walking on: its grasses, its boulders, its ditches, its tangled undergrowth, its copses, the roots of its trees, its pools, and I think that what they endure as fragments, not of the earth, but of a homeland, is expressed in the figures you create. Through you the self-portraits of these territorial particles came into being. It is as if you hold a pebble from the Golan Heights in your left hand and with your right hand draw what is inside it…”
